Zerisenay wins Silver
medal as Eritrea gets 4th team victory
In a tough competition of 12
kilometers Cross country championships in France, Zerisenay
emerged strong and cross the finish line second winning his first
medal for the world class cross country. The victory has gained
Zerisenay a great respect in international arena.
Eritrea gets 4th place in the
competition. The scoring athletes were: 2nd Zerisenay Tadesse,
15th Yonas Kifle, 17th Samson Kiflemariam, 20th Tesfayohannes
Mesfin. Kidane Kahsay finished to 127th due to injury.
In the Junior Men 8 K competition the
under 19 years old Eritrean runners put our country to 5th place.
Kidane Tadesse Habteselassie 17th, Samuel Tsegay Tesfamariam 18th,
Kiflom Sium Weldemichael 19th and Msgna Kflay Ghebreslase 31st.
This is the best victory ever for the under 19 year old Eritrean
runners.
In the Senior Men Short 4K
competition Eritrea was placed 9th over all. The scoring athletes
were: 25th Ghirmay Tikabo, 29th Amanuel Weldeselassie, 61 Michael
Tesfai and 76th Habtai Kifletsion. The senior men short has
improved a lot from last year.
In Long women race 8 Kilometers,
Chichi Jermayano Guly finished 72nd and Eden Tesfalem finished to
82nd.
In Junior women 6K, Meraf Bahta
Ogbagabir finished strong to 32nd and Weini Tedros Tesfai to 64th
out of 111 finishers.
In Senior women short 4K, Simret
Sultan finished to 26th place ( best result for Eritrean females
in this world cross country championships) and Yirgalem Gebrekidan
Beraki finished to 86th from over 100 runners.
The National athletic team will get
to our nation's capital, Asmara, on Friday for a hero welcome.
