Fundraise party of 23rd in Renaissance Hotel a success !
The people's party to fundraise / It was not EAAA's only
Eritreans of DC metro area has proven that they truly stand by side of Eritrean runners and EAAA.
It turned out to be a successful fund raise party. It was to the satisfaction of the people and EAAA members.
Eritreans of DC helped in selling tickets, helping to prepare for the party, donating some money and in kind, advertising through all public media, and every thing. Our thanks also goes to musicians and artists, specially Abraham Afewerki and Haile Ghebru.
EAAA thanked all who make the party a reality. A power point presentation was run with the names who helped in every thing; with advertisement for those organizations who helped us and the picture gallery of Eritrean runners. EAAA members traveled from Atlanta, Florida, North Carolina. and other remote areas to Washington DC to help EAAA and Eritrean runners; and entertain together with the runners.
We are preparing to go to the Eritrean orthodox church in Branch ave of Maryland to give inspirational speech to Eritrean kids, to give advise to them and chat for few hours.
We have to see off the members who traveled from different cities of America today and we need time to heal from this party that requested a lot of sacrifice.
In few days EAAA will send press release and news about the party.
The one outstanding show that took great attention was the bid for Zerisenay's T-shirt. Zerisenay did an interview with VOE and he thanked EAAA for the help it extended to Eritrean runners in Asmara, specially for the shoes EAAA donated. He underlined also that there is a need for shoes in Eritrea.
EAAA has also well aware of the shoe problems of our runners in Eritrea; even there are runners who run with Kongo(plastic sandels).
EAAA announced that the money from this t-shirt will be used for buying shoes for Eritrean runners. The Bid of Zerisenay's t-shirt was set to $5000 dollars by Ajeba !
Ajeba will take media attention for her desire of helping Eritrean runners and having the hero's t-shirt !
The members who traveled from distant cities deserve a lot of appreciation. Those members who worked from start to finish the party are the heroes for EAAA.
Last but not list, we send a special thanks to Ambassador Girma Asmerom, his deputy Ato Tsehaye Fassil and Dr. Haile Mezghebe for their time and giving awards to Top Eritrean runners.
May God bless Eritrean Athletics,
Yohannes Debesai, President, EAAA
