Silver and Bronze Medals for Eritrea
in Edmonton!
Eritrea finished second in
the WORLD HALF MARATHON race today in Edmonton, Canada.
Yonas Kifle, with a great fight for 3rd place, bits Ethiopian runner
Shileshi by one second to march for the podium and sing our national
anthem.
Eritrean flag will
waive twice in Edmonton
with the second place team victory and for the victory of our most
experienced, team captain, Yonas Kifle.
This marks the greatest victory ever for Eritrea
in the history of the World Half Marathon Championships.
Another great very unexpected performance was by a
young athlete Yared Asmerom, who also performed well in the
marathon of World Championships, coming strong to take 9th place.
Though not confirmed, It looks like that at least Yonas
Kifle and Yared Asmerom have broken their personal records. Tesfayohannes
Mesfin has also improved over ten spots from last year's performance. The
most improved Eritrean runner, Samson Kiflemariam, did not perform as
expected. This is unusual for this great promising runner and we are sure
that he will perform well in upcoming events.
