Eritrea Adorned Silver and Bronze Medals in World Cross
Country Championships
Eritrea shone with two best ever podium victories in the
12km and 8km men races and an almost all improved individual standings in the
34 th IAAF World Cross Country Championships held this weekend on1&2
April, 2006 in Japan.

VisitScotland Great Edinburgh International Cross-Country today
The Eritrean, Zersenay Tadesse,
last year's World Cross silver medallist in the long race, was third in
26:18.

Four Eritrean runners namely Zerisenay Tadesse, Yonas

Simon Bairu: Our national Champion
Simon Bairu won the
NCAA national Cross country championships for the second year consecutive
which was held in Indiana
on the 21st of Novermber, 2005.

Simon Bairu Finishes 1st at Roy Griak improves 24
seconds for the course
Senior Simon Bairu finished first out of 225 runners with a time of 23:43.
Last year at the Gri ak, Bairu came in second with his 24:07 finish. Simon
has improved by 24 seconds
Neftalem Araia helped Stanford to get victory
T he All-American EAAA runner, Nef Araia, finished 6th in the 8K of the
Standford invitational
on Saturday with a great time of 23:56.

Seven seconds behind his older brother
In the 8K course of Standford Invitational today, the 24th of September,
Yosef Ghebray finished strong to 23rd place and only 7 seconds behind his
older brother.

Half marathon victory goes to Samson Kiflemariam
EDF has conducted athletic compeitions that took all week last week. The
competition was concluded with a half marathon from Serejeka to Asmara stadium .

men's track and field team, shattered the school record in the 10,000 meters

Ghirmai, German Champion for 3000 meters steeplechase, here in the United
states
EAAA runner from Germany,
Filmon Ghirmai, has been training in Arizona
for about a month. Filmon has come to the states for a four week training in
a high altitude.
President
receives Eritrean athletes and stresses more efforts to develop sports
President Isaias Afewerki today received the national athletics team. The
meeting took place at the Sports Commission. The President commended the team
for their performance and described Zeresenay Tadesse's triumph as a major
achievement.
